How we handle your data. Short version: we collect very little, we don't sell anything, and you're always in control.

1. What we collect

Newsletter subscriptions: When you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address. That's it. No name, no tracking pixel, no behavioral profiling.

Analytics: We may use privacy-friendly analytics (no cookies, no personal data) to understand which pages are visited. We don't track individuals.

Cookies: We use a single cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) to remember your language preference (English or Romanian). No advertising cookies. No third-party trackers.

2. How we use your data

Your email is used exclusively to send you the newsletter. We don't share, sell, or rent your email to anyone. Ever.

We use Resend as our email delivery provider. Your email is transmitted to Resend solely for the purpose of delivering the newsletter.

3. Data storage

Newsletter subscriber data is stored in PostgreSQL on the Hetzner server. Access is restricted to the application and authorised administration.

We don't store passwords, payment information, or any other sensitive personal data. There are no user accounts on this website.

4. Your rights

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email
  • Request deletion of your data by emailing us
  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you

If you're in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to rectification, restriction of processing, and data portability.

5. Third-party services

This website uses the following third-party services:

  • Hetzner — application hosting
  • PostgreSQL — self-hosted database
  • Resend — email delivery
  • OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — travel maps (no tracking)

None of these services receive personal data beyond what is strictly necessary for their function.

6. Content & RSS

All blog content is available via RSS at /rss. RSS readers fetch content directly — no tracking, no analytics, no cookies involved.

7. Changes

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be noted with an updated date at the top. We won't email you about policy changes unless they materially affect your data.
